A new law amendment was published and entered into force on 2 February 2022, which provides for the reduction of the isolation period for employees infected with COVID-19 in Romania. The minimum isolation period had initially undergone a change (a reduction) at the beginning of January 2022.

However, yesterday, February 2, the Romanian Ministry of Health published another Order (Order no. 213/2022) by which it considered necessary a readjustment of this period.

The change is likely to come at a time when the Romanian government’s funding for sick leave is dwindling.
